Collections francophones (2023)

Stiftung CCFA Karlsruhe

March 21 - April 4 2023

Bicycle tour of sites on March 22

Created for the French language week (Semaine de la francophonie) the project Collections Francophones contributes to the current debate on the return of art treasures of colonial origin in our museums. The posters represent standard museum artifacts, some of them problematic, on display in Canada, Switzerland, Belgium and France. Morocco, a former French "protectorate", is shown as a counterpoint to the Western hegemonic narrative. Made especially for Karlsruhe, these posters are based on the projects "Museums of the World" (2010 - 2015) and "Disturbing Specimens" (ongoing). The presentation at the CCFA was followed by a bike tour of some of the sites.

Archives and Red Herrings (2014)

The 2014 Main Street Commission in the Lorne Sculpture Biennale is an exploration in pictograms of the festival's rich past. 40 pavement stickers show either selected sculptures from the archives or generic sculptures typical of the event (Red Herrings). QR codes allow visitors to consult a web page for each image. Sponsored by Andyinc and the Myer Foundation.

Doors, Slits and Openings (2014)

When commissioned to create visuals for the advent calendar to appear progressively in the windows of a former monastery, Heidi Wood was inspired by the joyous impatience of children picking out a chocolate to mark the countdown to Christmas. To illustrate this festive ritual, she created a series of doors, slits and openings in cheerful colors. The images are inspired both by the history of architecture and by comic strips.

Poster Campaign (2011 – 2012)

The « Winter Vacation » project in Chevilly – Larue generated 20 posters juxtaposing objects that express the private lives of residents with the public face of its architecture.

Two poster campaigns in the city’s advertising space took place in November 2011 and January – February 2012.

Cosmic stroll (2011)

These six Cosmic street signs, produced in series of six, infiltrated the signage in the city of Houilles during the festival "Balade en Yvelines". They were an extension of the solo exhibition Cosmic at la Grainéterie.

May - June 2011.
