Meymac Bonfire, 2009

During a ten-week residency program at the Meymac Contemporary Art Center, I intended to create a series of new wall paintings to accompany paintings that had reached their 5-year use-by date before burning them. Face with the reality of setting alight toxic materials, I ended up disposing of them in a less spectacular manner.

This exhibition at a design school turned the gallery space into an information center for Santa Fe (USA) following a residency at the Sante Fe Art Institute. Wall paintings, felt collages and the photographic series Authentic New Mexico explored the reformating of Amerindian traditions to promote the city to tourists.
